Summer 2019, it's hot, it's the England World Cup Final and starting where all good love stories start... in Seaham Park Cricket Club.
Featuring a useless barmaid (Courtney) and a very hungover helper (Thomas), it was a recipe for chaos.
Somehow, in the midst of all the chaos, a budding romance blossomed. Involving one Greggs packet of wotsits, one barfight, one police callout and one Ben Stokes masterclass, some may say its the best love story of all time.
Fast-forward five years, three children, two new careers, one house, thirteen cars (Thomas), 15983,8498 new ideas (Courtney) one engagement ring and a partridge in a pear tree... it's finally time to tie the knot 🤍
They might be older, chubbier and undoubtedly more tired but it's safe to say the protagonists in this story are still the best of mates (Thomas also still scrapes his car off the drive wall on a regular basis and Courtney still can't pull a decent pint).

If you’re extending your trip, the best way to explore the island is to hire a car or ATV.
ATV/Car rentals are easy to find, particularly in Fira. Expect to pay between €50 - €100 per day for a quad depending on the size (cars are cheaper to hire but not as fun)!
We have always booked car hire before arriving to the island and have found this great.
It takes about 30 minutes to drive from the north to the south of the island.
We are still working out transport logistics for the wedding day with our planner, and will provide further information when we have an update for you.
No Uber on the island I’m afraid and taxis are sparse so I have listed some local numbers below:
Golden Tours - +30 697 412 4275 Aegean Taxi - +30 21 5215 4000 My Santorini Transfer - +30 698 1078755
Your hotel can also order a taxi for you if you need it.
You can fly direct to Santorini from Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and London.
You can only fly from Newcastle on a Monday. Flight prices are currently high but will come down over the coming months and there are still plenty of spaces on the planes! It is up to yourselves to book when you are ready so please don’t ask us to arrange this.
September is the high season in Santorini, please make your arrangements as soon as possible for the best availablity.
We would recommend staying in Kamari or Perissa (sunrise side of the island).
We will be staying in Kamari as it is more lively and has a variety of restaurants and bars, both English and Greek.
Our hotel is Blue Waves Apartments and we have secured discounted rates for our guests. Please contact them directly and inform them you will be staying with our party to access the rate. There are a variety of different style rooms, including rooms with private jacuzzis and pools.
Hotel recommendations in Kamari: (The majority of our guests will be booking accommodation in these hotels)

Places to Visit
FIRA
Santorini's capital, is again, where we recommend staying and is also the most convenient located city in the centre of the island. Fira is known for its white washed houses and cliffside sunsets, and is one the most popular cities. There are many cafes, restaurants and hotels that overlook the caldera.
OÍA
Pronounced (ee'yah) is the northern town on the island and is world famous for its spectacular sunsets. Most people flock to Oia's cliffs to watch the sunsets. It is always busy, so be prepared for crowds. If you want to view the sunset from one of the many restaurants, then be sure to book ahead.
Although we recommend visiting Oia, we don't suggest staying here due to the high prices.
TIP: 6am is the best time for photos.
TIP: make sure to visit Ammoudi Bay if you take a trip to Oia
KAMARI
Situated in the south east (and about a 20 minute drive from Fira), it’s one of the most popular places for families and has a black sand pebble beach with lots of restaurants but no views of Caldera. The pedestrian only street along the beach is fun to walk at night when it gets busy. The best place to swim is anywhere south past The Poseidon Restaurant, closer to the mountain the better.
You can get a pair of sunbeds (or bean bags) between 7 -15 euros for the day however most restaurants will offer free sunbeds if you buy a meal or spend 20+ euros on drinks (not that I believe they check). You can also catch a boat from the beach to Perissa beach which leaves every 40 minutes until 5pm and is 7 euros per person each way.
PERISSA
Located on the South West of the island. Here you will find the best beach bars on the island, including JoJos, Wet Stories and Theros Wave Bar.
IMEROVIGLI
A beautiful village connected to the north of Fira, and is a less touristy area.
Come here to take photos of picturesque churches. You can walk here from Fira, which would take about 25 minutes along the coastal footpath.
PYRGOS
Another a lovely village to visit. Walk up the village steps to see the blue dome churches at the top of the mountain and see an amazing view of the island from the airport to Oia.
RED BEACH
The most spectacular and picturesque of any Santorini beach.

Activities
HIKES
Hike up to the Ancient Thera (mountain in Kamari) to see the runes. Recommended to start hiking around 5pm when the sun starts to go down as there is little shade. There are tickets to see the runes for a small price.
Hike the Caldera Footpath - this incredible hike takes you along the caldera cliff and through the villages of Fira, Firostefani, merovigli, and Ora with the most breathtaking views.
The hiking trail from Fira to Ola is just under 10.5km, and can take anywhere between 2-5 hours depending on how quick you go and how many stops you make. Take plenty of water!
BOAT TRIPS
There is no better way to view Santorini than from the ocean. There are many boat tours you can book with the agents or hotels in Fira or check out Viator. From idyllic and romantic sunset Catamaran tours to boat trips to the volcano, hot springs, and Red Beach.
WINERIES
Santo Wines Winery and Venetsanos Winery are two of the most popular to visit with stunning views of the caldera. Santo Winery has the best sunset view.
GREEK ISLAND HOPPING
Here are some of the other nearby Greek
Islands that you may want to hop to via ferry:
los - for bar hopping and beautiful beaches.
Mykonos - one of the most famous islands in the world for its extravagant restaurants, bars and night clubs. (Expend to spend BIG money!)
Crete - the largest of the Greek islands, home to some of our favourite beaches.
Some popular towns to stay in are Chania, Heraklion or Hersonissos.
Milos, Naxos, Paros and Antiparos - famous for its romantic beaches and authentic restaurants, these small islands are home to white washed cobbled streets, boutique shops and more affordable accommodation.
These islands are ideal for stays of 1-2 nights each. Be sure to check out Milos's moon beach.

Q & A
For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, hopefully this helps!
Where should we stay? You can stay in either Kamari, Perissa or Fira, but we would recommend Kamari as it is cheaper, has a good nightlife and plenty of restraunts along the front. Our wedding will be in Imerogivili (The side of the island overlooking the Caldera) We would recommend staying in one of the hotels we have listed above.
When is the RSVP deadline? We are asking everyone to RSVP by 25th September 2024 (One year before the wedding).
Is there transport provided between the ceremony and hotels? Please check back for updates regarding transport, once we have arranged this with our planner.
What will the weather be like? Greece in September will be warm, roughly 26 degrees during the day. However once the sunsets, the island sometimes gets a strong sea wind.
What should I wear? Ladies - please don't wear white on the wedding day We would recommend a light jacket for the children if you are planning on watching the sunset during your trip
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors? The entire wedding and reception will be outdoors
What should our budget be? Santorini can be as cheap or expensive as you make it. You can get a Gyros for around 3 euro or spend 300 on a 'slap up meal'
Don you have a gift list? Having you there is the most important thing to us, however if you wish to buy a gift, we would appreciate money to go towards a honeymoon
